Screwed up Satellite intro?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Screwed up Satellite intro?

Unread post by Joss » Sat Mar 29, 2003 10:24 pm

In this D+T tour, they've been playing an extremely odd intro to Satellite. It's very subtley different, off key or out of tune in some very small way, and I can't get it at all.

Anyone have any idea what it is? (Just Dave's part, Tim improvs.)

I noticed that too...on 3-23-03.
I am guessing either Dave thought it would be funny to mix it up and make it sound as bad as it does, or he just messed up on the beginning and kept it going...either way, here's the tab.

EDIT: by the way, the crowd was laughing at it, im guessing it was a joke.

Okay well apparently I'm the odd man out... I *LOVE* that odd-voiced intro, I think it's awesome... In answer to you swift, I have the shows on my ftp server (link in my sig).

The crowd laughed because Dave made a little laugh-type noise after the first riff. No it was not a joke, it was an awesome intro.

Okay, I just checked and the satellite i was talking about was on 3/25... pulled up 3/23 and I don't think it's as good as 3/25, and you're right the crowd is laughing... sorry I got a little confused.

i liked that intro too, it was funny. OH and at the end of the playing satellite, at uri and west point, I thought it was cool to see dave shaking and stretching his left hand the second he was done. it hurts dave too to play that song!

It is actually a scale/finger exercise dave did way back in the day, after mixing it up a bit "after her" was born which evolved into satellite.

this is really weird, cuz last night a buddy of mine and fellow dave fan, put in this what he called a "remix" of satellite, winters calm... part the same, and rest high above the cloud... the same, but, the intro and verse were a little different, and i do recall the use of the words "after her" in the song, he told me it was the beginning of satellite before it evolved, so i think it must have been "after her"

i just thought it was nuts that its on the boards today, and the first time i heard it was last night

He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.
