I've started playing the sojurn of arujna more often. Hats off to whoever tabbed it.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I saw in several posts that #41 would be a good first song to learn. I've only been playing about a month, and the song doesn't seem too difficult. But I have a really hard time playing the first chord.

Intro
E:--------------------------------
B:---------------8---3--3----3----
G:---5-----7-----4---x--0h4--x----
D:---2-----4-----5---4--x----0h4--
A:---3-----5---7-7---5--5----5----
E:-5-5---7-7----------------------

I can't seem to make my 3rd finger reach the 5th fret for the low E while keeping my second finger on the 3rd fret of the A string. Any suggestions on how I may be able to get better at this? or is it just going to take time and a lot of practice to make the reach.

It's a tough stretch especially for a beginner. I know I struggled with those intro chords when I first started trying to play it. As I tried to play it more and more the stretch has gotten to be quite a bit easier and now I have no problems with it. So just keep practicing.

wow, sorry that looks like hell, but you get the idea
that's almost Howie Day style right there...i like the fullness of using these similar chords...kinda a unique way of playing it

When playing the verse...I just have my first finger lay on all the strings when hitting the low e...and when playing the A - just laying over all the strings and push the low e on the side to mute that with your first finger...cake...this way you can strum harder when you want to without other strings ringing out
