Hi

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Hey Jakis, welcome to the boards! Like Matty said, just keep practicing, it'll come to you, play along side an album where you can clearer hear the guitar, that will help you along as well, but practice is the key ;-)

Trouble with rhythm? Play the air drums whenever you hear music, and do it all the damn time. Just keep a beat.

welcome jakies. As was said before play along side albums. Get a metronome now that is very important. Try also to learn some funk or metal those styles are great for timing. they will teach you to work like a metronome.

Hey don't fret man, or actually DO fret, as much as you can. Practice does make perfect. Practice strumming up and down, this is hard at first, but it is key when learning Dave tunes.

It took me over a year to gain any sort of rhythm.

Keep playing.

Peace,

CJT

Welcome aboard... you won't see much from me. I kinda keep my trap shut cuz I don't know schyit about schyit. What I do know is that rhythm is something this man was not naturally born with. I have to practice, practice practice. I have a metronome.. you should get one and use it. I have one as I said and I don't use it. Also, you may want to take lessons, an experienced instructor can usually jump start you in several areas. For every half hour of lessons a week, try to get 12-15 hours practice. My instructor told me that to make a life of music (which is but a pipe dream for me) that his instructor when he was in college told him to treat it like a job. Practice 40-45 hours a week. Now, as I said that's a pipe dream and having a job (as much as I hate it and would rather play guitar 40 hours a week) makes it impossible to do so. Just practice, practice practrice your freakin heart out as much as possible. Things will start to make sense. My instructor said "basically you're either born with a natural ability for rhythm or your not". If you have it, you'll be able to play rhythm quicker than most, if you don't, it's going to take a lot of practice, but through the practice you will attain. Keep rockin Neo... you'll get it.

Narlos, love the Marley spliff picture. Right on holmes.

Rythm, you should definatly play along with an album, i was kinda born with rythm, but when songs get hard, it always helps me to play with a song, to me its the best way possible.
