practice practice practice, start off with the songs that come easiest to you.. i personally like to play along with the cd when I'm working on singing.. that way if you mess up you can join right back in
honest is easy, fiction is where genius lies.

just like riding a bike (but keep in mind, different people have different bikes, so you voice may do things one can't, but then there are some that can't do things that another can. Everyone has their ups and downs on voice).
Yes, I am in a box

If you want to get to the point where you can play the song without thinking about it, which is what is required to sing with it, read a magazine or something while you play. If you can do this well then you will be able to sing pretty soon, just because of the ability to do something else while playing.

talk while you're playing
within a week of when i started talking and playing, i could sing some songs, then keep doing it
it's the trick and it works!!

If you can learn the riff to where you can play it with your eyes closed, just keep the beat with your foot and sing along with that, not where you are in the guitar riff. It's easier to tap a beat like 4/4, 3/4, 5/4, etc. and sing with that than to try to follow the guitar part.
And talking and playing helps, too.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

Thanks all, the talking thing has helped already. I just get comfortable with the song playing in the background while I focus elsewhere, you guys are sooooooooooo smart!!!! You should start a websight or something. Hey, wait a minute.
