it may seem dumb but if you stand in one place for 2-3 hours every night the difference between the hard floor and a padded mat is VERY noticable. :)
Just to clairify, the rugs aren't a comfort issue.. they make the stage have better acoustics.. it usually makes the sound travle outward instead of into the floor of the stage..
