Jimi Thing

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Jimi Thing

I was hoping someone here could help me with Jimi Thing. I can hit all the notes, but something about my strumming pattern just doesn't catch the "groove", if you know what I mean. The song is definitely there, but it doesn't move. These are the portions I'm having trouble with:

Code: Select all

e:------------------------------
B:----------------9-----9-------
G:------------x---9-----9-------
D:--9------9--x---9h11--9-------
A:--9h11---9--x--------------11\
E:------------------------------
If anyone has a video focusing on the hand slowly going through this rift, or can think of some other way to relay what I should be doing, I would be grateful. Thanks!

I remember learning that song and having that exact problem. Here's my not scientific or good advice solution (although it worked for me, haha): have a few drinks, relax, and try to play along with the record to get the feeling. It'll "click".

Also, don't make the mistake of trying to play the song exactly as Dave does... if you like a different feel, go with it. You're playing for your own enjoyment after all.

i had the same problem for this song, but listen to Klondog, thats how i solved my issue, played with the the lost acoustic version of it, and i paid extra attention to the muting he is doing for the 9-11 hammer on... if u get that slap in it should fall in place.... just dont give up.-
