And I ask you this: What is the most influential.....inspiring....provocative.....beautiful.....and all around best song that the Dave Matthews Band has written in the 12 or so years or so that they've been playing for all of us?

Mine (for real this time) would be a toss up between Dreaming Tree and Seek Up

Both soooooo powerful!

I'll probably edit this post as different ones might come to mind later, but I can think of the most inspiring would be Pig. that song can lift me up from low places, man. Most powerful I'd have to say The Stone, man I don't have to explain that one. Most provacative I'd have to say Seek Up, I just love the concept or message that it portrays. Most influencial.....every single one of them (even some of the Everyday ones  )
good, and you?

i agree with pig
thats one of my favorite songs
another one that no one has mentioned is lover lay down
its not influential, but i consider it one of the best love songs ever written

its a shame not as many girls know it as crash, because its a much better song about worship of women, in my opinion

bartender is probably the most influential
dreaming tree and seek up also

and why has no one mentioned typical situation
?

I usually dont write on the board much, but i couldnt help replying to this one.

I think by FAR the most beautiful song, in terms of music, and in terms of lyrics, is Say Goodbye.

Not to say his others arent just as beautiful (esp. Dont Drink the Water, Pig, Bartender...and much more), but whenever i pick up my guitar, i always find myself playing it, or i have it on repeat on my CD player/computer.

Peace

Well, now that you've all given your favorite songs.......I'll give you the one I treasure the most

THE STONE!!!

By far one of his best songs. Its compelling yet comforting at the same time....and it doenst hurt that is has a great melodic sound.

I know what you mean...

most tense (verses)...while it yields the most resolve (chorus) of most any Dave song...
