One Sweet World

Unread post by dmfollower » Tue Feb 11, 2003 6:02 pm

Does anyone start one sweet world with x3x54x instead of 8x08. i don't like the dead sound of the 8x08 i think the other way sounds fuller. and i play the live intro totally different then kanters tab. instead of picking an open C i go up the neck in a sliding/picking kind of way. anyone(?)

yeah I play x3x54x instead of 8x08. I pick the open C though. I don't go past the 4th fret in the whole intro - that's a little different than what's on the site.
good, and you?

I've always done it that way.....you're right, much better sound. I will suggest this though: with the 8x10 try doing 8x10, 8. Fingering would be pinky on the 10 and middle finger on the added 8. It's not that hard and gives it a little fuller soun and a smoother transition. I've been using it lately.

I've tried that, too, but unless you get your hand in postion just right you'll end up unintentionally muting a string. I learned with with the 345, so I just stick with that. Cuz like said, better sound.

ive tried it and it sounds good, but it makes things a lot harder in the 'take all that we can get' part

it would make it pretty impossible, that's why I don't do it. I just use the 8xx8 , 6xx7, 10xx10 etc. chords for that part. it's a lot smoother that way. but for intro and the "one sweet word..."..part at the end, I use the x3x54 chord instead of 8xx8 chord

good to know i'm not the only one. yeah, i only use the x3x54 for the intro and not the bridge. i've actually been practicing the live intro with the open C and it does have a fuller ring to it. its kind of fun just to switch back and fourth, like in "what will become of me" where you play it at 075078 and then you bring it down to the Em(7).

i use 86x8xx, 6x87xx, 86x8xx, and so on

i find that extra finger makes the world of difference
