Raven

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Anyone tab out the newer style intro Dave is using? Is it simply open chords rather than the alternate voicings he used to use?

It is not similar to the way he did it at Benaroya in '02? similar chords as #40

This is how I play it, you'll have to listen to get the strumming down:

Code: Select all

e-----------------------------------
b----1---------1--------1----1------
g----0---------0--------0----0------ into verse
d----2---------x--------2----x------
a--3-3-------2-2------3-3--2-2------
E-----------------------------------
After looking, this tab (or something similar) is actually on the main site for Raven.

I always loved that performance. It has such a different feel to it than the album version. A little more attitude, I'd say.

Saw Raven at the Woodlands last week...Dave's definitely playing it differently than the tab on the main page...

This year he is playing w/just open chords of E (02210) G (320003) Asus2 (02200) E (022100) not only in the intro where he's playing solo, but also in the later portions of the song. He doesn't go near the higher end of the neck (aka the 11 9 11 12 or 0 7 9 10 chords) for the song anymore.

Also he is playing the pre-chorus and chorus differently...gotta wait til some better YouTube videos are out, but it was F at 133211 and G at 355433 and then I'm not 100% sure about the C and Bm but I think he just dropped down to the A string to play -355-- and then -255--

Chorus and Intro Riff (played AFTER chorus, not during actual intro to song) are played the same as always...there's a tab on the front page of dmbtabs
