I don't post questions on this board very often, in fact I don't post that often at all.
Any, more to the point. I'm currently in the workings on an EP to start selling when I perform, and even try to get it up on some online stores to try and get my name out there, and even perhaps make a little bit of money on the side. The issue I'm running into at the moment is trying to get the tone of my guitar to sound right in the recordings.
I'm using an Alvarez AD70S recording into a combination of an MXL V63M condenser microphone, Shure SM57, and a Shure SM94 condenser microphone. I'm constantly experimenting with a combination of the them, as well as placement of them near the guitar. I'm running those into a low-end Peavey mixer, the lowest grade item of anything in my set-up.
What I'm looking for is just a good tone to get out of the guitar. I've actually been rather fond of the tone of Dave's guitar in the studio version of #27. While I'm not looking to a carbon copy of Dave's tone in the song, that is certainly a tone I've grown fond of. My issues is that may guitar, being a dreadnought, has a great deal of bass that always seems to take over the recording. But since my mixer has only a 3-band equalizer on it, dropping the bass on the mixer doesn't seem to really remedy the problem, so much as it just makes the sound less authentic.
I'm using Garage Band, the program that comes free on Macs, as my recording software, and it does have a decent visual equalizer that I can use.
I'd like to just stop and thank anyone that read through all of that and isn't sick of me yet.
My real question is if anyone has any advice on getting a tone that is at least similar to what Dave has going on in #27, the studio version of course? Microphones to use, placement of said microphones, mixer settings, equalizer set-up? Any sort of advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you to everyone in advance.

P.S.
I would have put this in the Recording & Critiquing forum, but it seems like more people frequent this one.
