johnson plays in a conventional way to a medium standard -

dave plays in a weird way that one cant really judge as its almost unique - but its clearly good

great way of putting it

anyone who messes around with any sort of blues knows how insanely easy it is to write a three chord song in Am, G, or C, and "rip" a blues riff

I would agree with what someone already mentioned, Jack johnson isn't looking to go down as a great guitarist. He's clearly a songwriter at heart. Comparing him and Dave doesn't make any sense. I also don't think Dave is trying out for the greatest guitarist award either.
