Help with Chord Changes
I had my first lesson today with a new teacher. I had thought that you should only move as few fingers as possible when changing chords like for example, going from C to Am or A to E. Instead---he tells me the best way is to not leave any fingers "anchored" but to lift ALL fingers, relax them then place them on the next chord. Seems like wasted movement to me to lift a finger off a string then put it back down but this guy is a great guitarist in many genres and is even classically trained. Any thoughts on his suggestion?

whatever the guy teaches you...he probably wants you to emphasize this in the beginning so as to form a good habit and then your fingers will naturally flow through chord changes later on
