I have the supposedly approve Dave Matthews book from Guitar center, it is close to the Tabs that are posted here. The notes for Crash into Me show, base note then down up down up, base note then down down up, repeat with moving the base note. However this does not sound like the actual song.
Does some know the actual strumming on this song or is it posted here somewhere?
Thanks, Jeter

Those books are made to copy the studio version exactly. The crash one doesnt seem right but as far as ants, if you actually listen hard to the studio album, dave only strums and lets the band fill.SRVDMB wrote:Jeter wrote:I have the supposedly approve Dave Matthews book from Guitar center, it is close to the Tabs that are posted here. playing Crash
Always use the Crash chord shown on this site. It is correct and is its important to get the sound right. As for the strumming..no book is going to be able to help you. Maybe the Live at Luther book, but you'd be better off just listening for the feel of it yourself. Try listening to the Dave and Tim version played In Marin 2003 and play with it. Also try watching Dave play it live acoustically on Vh1 storytellers. (Dave and Tim) It shows some great up close strumming and Chord voicings. With practice you'll get it.

Re: Hardest DMB song to play?
I find the stretching takes time but is easier to understand then Dave's Rhythm at times.
Crash Into Me's Rhythm for the verse is, (edit, I messed this one up give me a moment)
Tripping Billies is hard to play clean while you fret Dave's diad chords so quickly.

Try #41, it has the same chord patterns. I found #41 much easier than Captain. Captain also has the quicker change at the end of the riff. If you really wanted to get it down, Play those chords over and over. Pick one that you can fret alright and hold it for as long as you can. This will build strength and your hands will grow use to the position. I sure as hell don't have long fingers like some lucky ones yet I've been able to make some pretty clean chord changes with these triads.Grachi wrote:i find captain to be difficult just cause i still cant get that stretch for some reason

It's because whenever someone new comes to this site, the first thing they want to post is wandering whats the hardest song to play, or what picks do Dave use, or whats the hardest song to play and sing.
So people that have been here for a while have seen these type of threads for a while just start to give bogus or generic answers. In no way, does it represent the opinions of teh posterz. Lol.
Blam BlamKa Plooey.
