chord progression

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Unread post by Donnyboo23 » Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:28 pm

i know one of the most amzaing parts about dave is not that he created each of his songs and its all genius. i find a lot of the chord progressions interesting like in dreaming tree Dm Bb C Am or in seek up A Bm G A.
what are some cool sounding chord progressions that everyone else knows of or has made up?

I'm feeling generous.

Quick preface: no matter what I type, you're going to need to study up on scale degrees and chord formation if you want to have any sort of grasp on music, be it this thread, post, or otherwise.

Roman numeral=Scale degree

Key of C major, remember that this chart is for major scales.
C=I
D=II
E=III
etc.

The other numbers represent the additions to the chord.

So you take the scale degree, add the quality of the chord.

iim=minor chord with the second of the scale in the root. In C, a D minor. VI=major chord on the sixth of the scale. Again in C, an A major. (Relative minor disparity recognized, for those who went there in your mind.)

The rest of the numbers are simply additions to the chord. #IVm7b5=F# major plus the minor seventh of the scale a Bb and a flattened fifth, Gb, instead of the perfect fifth that would normally be included in a major chord.

D minor is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.

You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of...

What do you call this?

Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

The sustain, listen to it.

I don't hear anything.

Well you would though, if it were playing.
