sounds good to me, but sometimes its easier to talk about shit in terms of minor, major crap and whatnot.

I agree.
It does make it easier to talk about if things have a name.
I also agree that you should play what soudns good.

Another reason to learn this stuff is to understand it better. At least for me, It allows me to undestand why dave picks the chords he does.

It means giving your opinion on a particular topic.

"Put my two cents in" originates from the older "put my two bits in" and has its origin in the game of poker. When playing poker you have to make a small bet before the cards are dealt called an "ante" to begin play in that hand.

This phrase draws an analogy to the poker ante (two bits) and gains your entry into the conversation.
