Dave's guitar in Live at Radio City Hall DVD
Dave's guitar in Live at Radio City Hall DVD
I don't know how many here have purchased the new Dave and Tim DVD live at Radio City Hall, but I did the other day and its awesome. Anyways, to my question, is it just me or why does Dave's guitar sound so much quieter than Timmy's on the DVD? I mean for some songs you couldn't even hardly hear Dave's guitar, but you could hear Timmy doing all his crazy stuff clear as day. Does the soundman do this to emphasize Tim's guitar sound more or am I just deaf. You can hear his guitar pretty well on the CD, but on the DVD its like his guitar is almost not even there for some songs. Did anyone else notice this too?
I noticed. Sometimes I liked it, and sometimes I would have rather had Dave stand out more. For the most part, I think it worked well that you could hear Dave's guitar well enough that you could easily recognize the main part of the song, but it was still more or less backing what Tim was doing.

that's something that's always bothered me about D+T shows - the actual guitar work sounds sloppy to me, whereas at a DMB show, it's a bit more subdued because he's playing with the full band - it's nice to hear the parts more during a D+T show, but i prefer the tone of dave's guitar during a DMB show

I'm the exact opposite. It shows he's human and makes mistakes. When I'm struggling with something and then he screws up that same part, in some small way, I'm encouraged to keep trying.DJR07 wrote:that's something that's always bothered me about D+T shows - the actual guitar work sounds sloppy to me, whereas at a DMB show, it's a bit more subdued because he's playing with the full band - it's nice to hear the parts more during a D+T show, but i prefer the tone of dave's guitar during a DMB show
I don't want perfectly polished ... I want real and D&T, for me, is as real as it gets.
