playing along, say, tripping billies
i can play the song just fine, but I'm wondering, what do you guys mean when you say, play along with somebdoy on a song? I read some old posts about guys who were playing in a store and somebody else would join in. there's not a whole lot to play extra is there?

i don't know....pentatonic is simple but there's so much you can do out of it...watch some stevie dvd's and 90% of what he does is pentatonic based...so it's all preference...i'm a pentatonic buff (partially because i'm too caught up with rhythms lately to work anything else though)

Sound
Pentatonic is a good scale to know, but each scale has a different sound to it. So it depends on what idea your trying to create when you solo (or fill). Minor scales are great too, depending on the song. Personally, I like the Mid-East type scales (not sure what the actual name for it is), becuase you can do some sick bends with them and it sounds great. Best thing is to work your way through all of them and see what sound you like for a particular song.
