On Jimi Thing, what do you play during the "i'd like to show you waht's inside..." part? and the the 'brother, chaos ruled all about..." part? is it the E chord then the xx1224 ?

The chord would be 4221xx and yes that is correct

yeah, and that bastard chord is hard to play for those with small hands, such as myself, it usually buzzes but i say to hell with it and keep going, pretty funny

It's all about how you fret the E. If you lay your hand down(why'll fretting the E), too much you won't be able to fret it but if you hit the E with your middle and ring finger pressing from the tips of the fingers then reaching the fourth with your pinky shouldn't be much of a bother.
There's no shortcuts or calculators when it comes to guitar playing.....unfortunetely you "have to learn on this one. :cry:

i like to play that E above most of the time, but sometimes to switch it up to tims part.

oh yeah, about that E. i usually do an open E for the first half of that part, than hit down on the 4.

I do that too, I think that's how it should be done...

but if you're having trouble reaching try doing this...

Thats how you're supposed to do it

And as dmfollower said , it is all about how you hold your hands when forming it , i don't have huge long fingers , but if you learn to move them right , you can do all those chords that seem like your fingers are too small for , its a matter of practice as always
