its not unrealistic, the first song i tried was grey street, which i got down pretty fast, but be patient with songs like tripping billies, they take a while.
i would try crash, christmas song, typical situation, and big eyed fish first

Regardless of Dave's "difficulty" goes....who cares...watch him play. Dave is a ridiculous guitar player, his fingers just "slide" around like nothing, watch him play a song like trippin billies and just watch his hands. bastard!
Aside from that, he is an AMAZING writer. Not only guitar parts (The Stone, Warehouse, WWYS, SMTS, JTR, Grace Is Gone, etc) but his lyrics are amazing. Dave is one of the best lyricists there's been IMO, with Dylan and Diamond and the crew!

There's also an aspect that nobody has touched on yet when it comes to Dave. Ya if you learn some songs his style can get repetitive, but I think one of the most difficult parts of learning Dave songs is remembering how to play them. They aren't simple three chord songs, you have to have the skill and also the memory to play Dave's songs. Just a thought

I can play just about any of his songs pretty damn well, but I don't look near as good as he does when he slides his hands around. It's so damn fluid.soright wrote:Regardless of Dave's "difficulty" goes....who cares...watch him play. And I'd agree that he *was* an amazing lyricist. His stuff as of late has been shite. But that's for another thread...

Re: Dave Difficulty
as to the original question, dave songs can be moderately difficult but when compared to a band like O.A.R. who uses usually only 3 or 4 chords per song then dave can truly be a test.
