you should know that the power supply or microphone pre-amp affects the quality of the signal. pre-amps start at $20 and go up to over $2000 per channel. they are just as important as the quality of the microphone. i would stick to a tube preamp. the ART model is not bad for the price. you should be...

keep your guitar tuned to concert pitch (standard). you can just put a capo at the third fret and it will be really close to what you hear on the record. It will probably be less than a quarter step off. If you want to play along with the record, you will have to manually tune your guitar to his rec...

davy is correct. i remember reading an interview with taylor...i dont think he ever keeps his guitar tuned to normal pitch. he likes to at least tune it down one step and use a capo on the first fret. but i remember trying to play along with the cd, and it is in between two half steps. good luck .

Hey,

He absolutely uses a capo. I have the actual sheet music. I believe the proper key is one and one-half times up from standard (a capo at the third fret). Try that--it is a beautiful song.

Most established bands use IEMs for a number of reasons--they are excellent. You can customize your mix and hear every band member better than using floor monitors, easier to control feedback, and musicians wont get hearing damage. Monitor engineers also pump in crowd tracks (that is why bands have ...

if you wanted to use the B1, you would need to purchase a power supply because the mic is a condesor mic and needs to be powered with phantom power. The cheapest decent mic pres cost $100, so that will put you over your budget. Also, using a condensor mic is very tricky in a live situation...it is v...

for $100, you cannot go wrong with the shure 57 or 58. they are in just about EVERY major studio in the world. both have the same capsule, just a different wind screen. the 58 is suited for vocals, and the 57 is best suited for instruments, though there are many artists who use it as a vocal mic. If...

hey man, what mics are you using? if your using dynamic (live) mics, you shouldn't be running into much of a bleeding problem. but if youre using condesors, your vocal mic will pick up the slightest of background noises, so you have to be really carefull using two condensor mics to record vocals and...

i find that reverb is most important. it adds depth to the mix, and you can get a variety of sounds using different types of reverbs. esp if you record in your bedroom, you will need reverb to "simulate" you being in a studio, club, music hall, etc. next i would say you definitely want to use some a...

awesome song man! vocals are excellent and the song is money--reminds me alot of dispatch. the compression is a little harsh on the slapping of the guitar and very noticable. lighten that up and the recording is perfect. nice job!

I wouldnt change a thing. You have a style all your own. Keep the rushed lines...I think it sounds awesome. This idea behind the song ("then came autumn) is money.
