dave is so precise with his picking, he doesnt really even need to mute for the stone, but for OSW laying your index on the six fret A-string will naturally mute the strings around

learn to play the nature intro, thats all the verse is just broken down.... when u play the nature intro enough that stretch will come as easy as any chord.... its just alot of practice and the more familiar the chord becomes, the easier is it to play it

yea, everyone plays it differently, for example, i dont like to play the bass note on the D chord in the chorus of jimi thing because it doesnt sound as good, but on grey street it doesnt sound bad at all

i know you probably dont wanna hear this, but the best thing in my opinion would be to put on a recording of LIOG and just play around with it.... you'll know what sounds good and what doesnt, and then what sounds good will stick in your head, so that the next time u play it, u know where to start.....

not to doubt anyone here, but sometimes when it looks like he is using his thumb for the low E string he is actually just muting the string, although it doesnt really matter because thats an F# which is one of the notes from the D chord

you dont need long nails to fingerpick, its just simply not using a pick.... you pluck the strings with your fingers, not your nails

ive never seen or heard that intro before, but what i do is play the F# octave and then do the fills as the inrto to the song, thats probably your best bet to learn how to play this song.... i fu want any help, u can IM me at joefly13

he doesnt move when he plays it now and from storytellers and so on, but if u listen to UTTAD, you do hear his strings squeaking, implying that he did use to move up and down the fretboard, he doesnt now but he used to

yea, i just tried it using my index and middle fingers, but the way you play it depends on how u fell comfortable with.... fingerpicking is a very good technique in my opinion cause it lets you creat a whole different sound by playing certain notes as opposed to strumming which gives you a pretty li...

u can use a pick, but it doesnt give it as good a sound, in my opinion for christmas song....

you should try using your index finger and thumb to sort of pluck the two notes at the same time, it gives it a much better sound and fuller
