One more thing
You don't necessarily need the DI but it will give you tonal control. The M1 does have a strong midrange but it is adjustable. You can adjust the height of the poles below the strings to achieve the right tone. I really appreciate your input. Do you know what tone is achieved by lowering the poles?...

I Bought the LR Baggs MI Active, but....
...should I get the The Para Acoustic D.I.? Sounds like it helps find the right tonal balance for one's guitar. My Martin HD28V sounds a bit "woody" or mid-rangy with the MI. Is it the guitar, the pickup, or a lack of an EQ that might be found in the The Para Acoustic D.I.? Appreciate the input. Jack

Passive or Active
Thanks for the input. To which LR Baggs M1 pickup were you referring, the passive or active unit?
Sounds like a great pickup -- without any modifications to the guitar. I like that.
Thanks,
Jack

Matrix Natural II or Ellipse Matrix Blend Pickup
I'm trying to decide which pickup to put on my Martin HD-28V. Either the Acoustic Matrix Natural II or the Ellipse Matrix Blend. Anybody used either of these Fishman/Martin products? I'm thinking the added mic and preamp might give it an edvantage over the under-the-sadle pickup?
Thanks,
Jack

The Old Guys
True, a good guitar cant make a shitty player good. But, in the hands of a good guitarist, a great guitar sounds great and a shitty guitar sounds... well shitty. Sincere question: I'm curious about how your view about great-guitars-equals-great-sound applies to all the old acoustic blues players wh...

All the "fine Brazillian Rosewood and spruce tops juxtaposed by fine craftsmanship and precision patented bracing" don't guarantee a great sound unless the fingers and heart playing it can make it happen. That's all I'm saying. Having a great guitar doesn't mean the sound is good. I stand by my poin...

I own a 714CE. It is very fine instrument. I bought a Martin HD-28V back in November. What a guitar! But the 714CE, with the cedar top, is in a class by itself. You won't regret buying a 714CE. And don't listen to the boneheads who have to put down other guitars just to make their own seem superior....
