Bakemm - How long have been singing? I agree somewhat with Appsolider and ticohans, but rather than being inherent I believe the "ear" is something developed at a young age. You know how it goes once you learn something as a kid it's very easy to build upon it growing up. I would agree, however, the...

one thing you guys might want to try that i did, is getting the same pickups SRV used. The standard passive pickups that come with most strats are kinda of week as they don't have near the maganent size as SRV's Wildcats. They cost around 80 -200$. The pickup swap is a little ticky to do, but if you...

Shane, sorry to hear you got a bumb rig. I wonder if it was poor QC on Alvarez's part or if it had something to do with the way the guitar was stored, shipped, etc...I can say I've had my axe for about 8 years and it still amazes me with its strength. About a year ago my wife's snowboard fell on it ...

Action can be strange thing. I just had mine raised. I got a little buzzing around the 3rd fret on the 3 and 4 strings sometimes, plus I played a friends guitar and his action was slightly higer than mine and I could mute a lot better and I could play everything as I could before. So I decided to go...

for a bit i would skip the 4 on the 7-5-4-8 chord. It's pretty hard to tell the note isn't played and makes that chord (the hardest chord in the progression) playable. Good luck

quote] I guess Im just looking for a big place with a big selection just to try out as many guitars as possible, not to buy one, is that a good idea?[/quote] Definitely! I played probably, 50+ guitars before I decided what to buy. Once you find the model you dig, start looking around for the best pr...

Grock, just read the other thread, great explanation. I've never heard it defined that well. My old guitar techer is a physics major and had explained this about 5 years back. Good info.

sorry about that man my original question came out sounding retorichal. So i re-typed it but typo'd the? Didn't mean to sound like a smart ass. In short, play the 12th fret harmonic of the string you're trying to tune and the tuner needle or led shouldn't bounce around as much.

If you don't know how to play a harmonic see the link below? The natural harmonics on a guitar occur on the 5-7-12 frets, this is due the the distance between the bridge and nut. The mentioned frets are where the distance betwen the bridge and nut are evenly diveded, i.e the distance is divided in h...

Sorry to get off subject but, do any of you use the 12th fret harmonic to tune? For me this usually gives better resonance and I can tune a string quicker. Just curious if others do the same.
