i wont need a nut file because i have a pre-made one from taylor. the only tough part should be getting the old nut out, then i should be able to pop the new one in.

removing my nut

So the nut on my 314ce is really worn, and its time for a new one. I'm going to replace it myself, but I've never done it. I found a lot of sites around the web, but do you guys have any suggestions?

if you don't want a mexican, the highway 1's are pretty nice and about 300 bucks cheaper. one of the big price differences comes from the finish. It's pretty much just a stripped down american.

i don't want to put too much stress on it. grand auditoriums are meant to take lighter strings.

strings

lately ive been using either elixir lights or exp lights (both phosphor bronze) on my 314ce, but i'm kind of looking for a little more of a "beefy" sound if you know what i mean. i don't really want to put mediums on my guitar, but i want something a little heavier than lights. i think i'm gonna try...

i kinda miss the slipperyness (is that a word?) of the elixirs, but i really think these sound better

my new 12 sting

my parents suprised me with a 12 string for christmas. it's only a yamaha, but i was blown away by the tone, and it has the best action out of any 12 ive ever played. i don't even need to set it up or anything.
