I like going from Ants into LIOG...

I goof around with the solo (ala L@LC). When I sing "Lights down you up and die", I fire into LIOG on the last D. It's fun.

Is that why they call him a rhythm guitarist? Thank You, Captain Obvious.
OK...you got me. There's gonna be a Tuesday next week.

Just making the point that it's tough to compare them.

Funny how different people's perceptions are. I've seen Billies the past three shows in a row (not including D&F). I would have gladly traded it for a kick ass Ants or Two Step at the Gorge last Summer ( they did both those songs the first night and I was at the second...).

Does Tim use a pick? I've only seen him on the D&F tour and he seemed to be fingerpicking the entire time. I use both but I use a pick for 95% of Dave's songs that I play. I like Dave's style with his right hand and he uses a pick most of the time. Nothing like fingerpicking for some of the old Paul...

The Listener Supported video is how I learned Two Step. Excellent frontal shots of Dave and the tab on this site is perfect.

Don't talk to me about Tripping Billies. Seen it live a few times and still don't know how its possible...

Dave doesn't play lead. I saw John Mayer on his last tour and he is a fantastic (like, jaw dropping fantastic) guitarist. I don't think you can compare them, though. Who's "better"? John. Who's my favourite? Dave. I haven't stayed up half the night without realising it trying to learn a John Mayer r...

Re: Guitar and singing

This may sound weird, but i just now, like 5 min ago learned how to sing and play guitar at the same time. Is there anyway to hone that skill, besides the obvious practicing? Congratulations! Great feeling, isn't it? Based on one of your later posts, I think you have the secret...you were si...

So the tab is right and I do, in fact, suck. At least I know it now.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Help with Say Goodbye

Searched back a few pages and couldn't find anything so I'll start a new thread. What is he doing at the end of Say Goodbye? The "just for tonight, one night, love yoooooouuuuuu...? I can't make anything on Jared's tab sound right. Keep in mind as you read this that it is entirely possible that I su...

A metronome will also help immensely with this song. I preach timing a lot on these boards, but having that ticking going has helped me more than anything in the past six months. Get a digital one that has some bells and whistles and a headphone jack if you live with someone (they'll kill you while ...

It is in simple 4/4 time. The trick is to ignore the violin when you're listening to the intro and ignore the vocal when you're listening to the verse. Learn the guitar part. Listener Supported or Live at Luther College are both great versions (I have the LS video and it helped a ton). A metronome i...

That was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. I put Tim Reynolds right up there with Knopfler and Clapton. He is amazing. LIOG was so good that Dave didn't even bother finishing it. The crowd gave Timmy a huge cheer and, by the time things were quiet enough to finish the song...there was no...

Go to http://www.harmony-central.com and find the version there. It uses a capo on the 4th fret and is all G, D, Em and Cmaj7. Piss easy, sounds great with a pick and it is fun to play.

The timing is 7/4 if that helps anyone.

Gotta know the whole song. Nothing wrong with picking up a few licks here ane there but, if you are going to ask people to listen to you, give them something to listen to. Re. the talking and playing at the same time. Excellent practice. Most of you can sing way better than you think you can. Just f...
