Re: Telecaster or Strat?

They are in my price range (the standard, Mexican ones) and I think they'd fit the style of music I want to play. I'm looking at playing some Lenny Kravitz, Coldplay, U2 and Oasis with an electric, so those are the genre's I'd probably be covering the most. I know that Kravitz uses a lot of Gibson's...

Telecaster or Strat?

Can someone explain the difference to me? I want to buy one of the two, but I'm really not sure which to get and I don't know much about them in terms of differences, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Shout Out Loud

Hmmm, I'm not sure if that D/B is right. I think everything else is though. I just tried it and that D/B just doesn't sound right to me. Most of the tabs I've seen only have the three chords, the D, G and D/F# but I'm always positive there's a 4th chord in there, at least from what I've seen on vide...

Shout Out Loud

Ok, I have loved this song by Amos Lee for a long time now, but both of the tabs I've seen don't seem correct and don't look like what he's playing. This one seems fairly accurate, but I still think something is missing: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/...d_ver2_crd.htm Here's a pretty decent vi...

It looks as if this debate has already been solved and we're pretty sure Dave plays it: E------------ B------------ G------------ D------------ A--2--5------ E--------2--3- I don't know though, it looks different to me in this video, and this is the best I've found so far. Maybe it's just my eyes, b...

The shows last year at Alpine were my first DMB shows ever and while I enjoyed my experience, I couldn't help but be annoyed by some people in the lawn. Like the high school couple next to me that were grinding to songs like Warehouse and Satellite. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but some of the ...

So, for Bartender, for the intro and verse does Dave mute the bottom 4 strings?

Amos Lee - Shout Out Loud

I've searched on here for Amos Lee topics but wasn't really able to find anything.

Does anyone have the tab to Shout Out Loud from his most recent album?

I've looked and the one on Ultimate Guitar seems wrong. I don't know, maybe it's right, but I can't get it to sound right.

So he's playing the 7 and 9 together on one stroke and not individually?

I think we're on the same page now.

Also, does Dave always mute open strings? The "x's" on the tab means that string should be muted, correct? So if there's no x, those strings are played, right?

So for like Big Eyed Fish, when he plays the:

E:-------------------
B:-------------------
G:-------------------
D:-/9---9\5---5---4-- <---4
A:-/7---7\3---2---2-- <---1
E:-------------------

Is he muting the 7 when he plays the 9? Then mutes the 9 when he plays the 7?

Another thing I was wondering.

In songs like Big Eyed Fish, when you have to play individual strings, it looks like Dave is still just strumming away in videos. Specifically in Big Eyed Fish during the verse. Is that just because he's using a 12-string or how does he manage that?

I'll give that a try, but I'd like to learn it the proper way.

Man, I wish I knew someone who knew how to play Dave stuff on guitar that could just show me in person.
