Yo bassman-- I just want to say that if your bass skills are as awesome as your English skills, get in your car (and by that I mean your mom's passenger seat) and find yourself a top of the line bass. You deserve it man. Anyhoo, I have a Warwick Corvette (RockBass line) in the 5-string format...

OK, so I checked out the FF DVD... The verse normally seems to be: G|--------------------------------------| D|--------------------------4-(/)-7--9--| A|--------------------4--5--------------| E|-0----3-3----5-5----------------------| B|--------------------------------------| And the harmonics (whic...

The very beginning is all Dave, heh. I'm surprised you can't hear them during the verses. Around 0:20 into the album version, when Dave sings, 'My screams come...,' those are harmonics, aren't they? Anyhoo, I forgot this was on the FF DVD, so I'm gonna see if there's any shots of the verse on there....

If I Had It All & harmonics

Perhaps one of the resident gurus can help me out here. :D I'm trying to find out what haronics Stefan is playing (if any -- they ARE in there, right?) during the verses to IIHIA. Right now I'm playing (in order) 4th fret A, 5th fret A, 4th fret D, 5th fret D, 5th fret G for that part. I'm almost su...

Well, if you really want a quick fix, root-fifth-octave is a way out of just following the bass note on the guitar. What you'll really need to do is listen to the guitar and drums and see what you can link together -- i.e. if the guitar hits a C when the bass drum hits, you can hit a C too. If the g...

Yes, this helps more than you can imagine. Especially when you first start off -- lay that foundation, heh. You'd be surprised how much it makes a difference.

Stefan tried to play it at Hershey on 9/11 (and supposedly soundchecked it before the show) -- didn't sound terrible, but wasn't great, either. He also hit a few bad notes during that performance, heh. The tab here looks to be fairly close to how I play it, though I play more on the A and D strings ...

[quote="DreaminBassMunky"]If Jaco was still alive he would kick everyone's ass because that guy was a true virtuoso. He took the bass to a level that had never been seen before, playing it as a solo instrument, and just completely paving the way for any and all bass players after him. No one beats ...

Indeed. :D

So how did you get it for 500 new? Trade-in something else? I'll be getting the same bass very soon and I'll be getting rid of 3 of my older basses...so I was just curious.

i appreciate the help, but the tabs on the internet are all wrong. not to bash any of the hard work people at this site have been doing, but the "two step" tab is not correct. the transcription in the book i mentioned is 100% correct, but i can't get my hands on it. Why would you want to play EXACT...
