Recording help

Do I need a mic preamp if I record straight into a boss 8 track digital recorder? How good are the preamps on cheaper mixers like berringer? Should I get the Rode nt1 or save another 100 bucks for the AT 4040?

the guitar dave plays for a full band doesn't matter because of the preamps he runs through. the martin he plays on listener supported sounds better than that taylor shit he plays.

If more bass is what you want don't bother with a Taylor. They are great guitars, but don't have the "Martin" bass. I own a Martin HD28V and the bass is amazing.
