I've noticed this too. I think it is most obvious on Live at Red Rocks. All the songs seem to be played at a higher tempo.

Whether Mayer hates Dave or not, I don't know. But Mayer has got to respect Dave for all that he's done both musically, socially, and personally. I've got friends that say they hate Dave Matthews (usual reasons are that they are heavy metal fans and that they don't want to be a "bandwagon fan" as th...

Dave's Style

This may be seen as a stupid question, but I no nothing about music theory or guitar theory or anything like that. I'm just teaching myself to play. Anyway, I always see on posts here that Dave has a "percussive" style. What exactly is a percussive style? What are some other styles and who are some ...

I have a washburn wd43s. Its got a solid top and laminate sides. Bought it as a starter; I don't plan on keeping for a long time. My buddy uses EXP17's on his Gibson and I like the sound. I realize he has a much nicer guitar that would sound better than mine regardless of type of strings. But I just...

New Twangy Strings

I just bought a set of D'Addario EXP17's (Mediums). This is my first set of new strings. I've been playing guitar now for a few months, so the old strings are whatever came on my guitar. Anyway, the EXP17's sound really twangy, almost tinny. Just wondering if that's how they are supposed to sound, o...

-Martin DM3MD -Taylor W65 12-String -Taylor 714 -Taylor 914c -Jerry Jones Baritone -Modulus Genesis Three SH Those are the guitars in standard use. The Taylor 914c is used in full-band scenarios for all standard-tuned and drop-d songs (he has 3 of them, so monk tunes one to drop-d if they're playin...

Thanks for your input. I think I've got it. It may not be exactly right but it sounds pretty good.

Dreamgirl verse for studio version

I've looked at the tab in the stand up forum for the verse to dreamgirl, I just can't figure out how it is played. All I can hear when I listen to the song is the keyboard part. I know Dave doesn't play anything for the live verse, but I'm talking about the studio version verse that is tabbed. Is th...
