You have an amazing voice man, I can say nothing bad about your guitar playing and voice because I am not the same quality of a musician. Sometimes your voice sounds a little shaky, but thats what I like about it. You have passion in your voice keep it up and I'll see you on tour when you get famous...

The hardest part about singing is coming up with the "pattern", or lack there of, chaos creates music, not though =) I usually figure out my voice pattern before i ever touch a pen or a guitar. Humming does the trick.

Truely, you don't want to be like Dave. You want to be your own musician, do what you feel comfortable with, I usually figure out a singing pattern before i do a guitar pattern

Easy cure for this, ever seen polmade or beeswax for your hair? Like at CVS? Put a little on your thumb and run it between your thumb/index, it makes a greasy pick, but for some reason its so much easier to keep ahold of.

It all depends man, when im playing something like watchtower, I always close my hand to strum because it gives a little extra umfp when I need it (like the Downstroke F on the jam) But when I play stuff like john mayer, or #34/Satellite, I keep my hand open because it allows me to mute much better ...
