Finger-tapping = OUCH!

I have begun attempting to learn a song which utilizes finger-tapping for the majority of the chorus. I have a few questions and thought that you guys could help me out. 1. If I lower the gauge of my strings from medium to light, will it help in any way, (not hurt my finger) or make the tapping itse...

Thanks for all the help guys. I hope you're right Gold, cause that's the way I'm used to doing it. Also, that's the video I was saying that I watched a trillion times, Nate. Thanks though. Also, if you watch Pat's video, he actually hits 0 or (open chord) when supposedly you're supposed to transitio...

Oh man, you just helped me out big-time. I took another look at the video, and realized I'm playing the 3x13 chord too quickly so I can make room for my stupid chopping. I'm now playing the 3x13 chord with my index, middle, and ring fingers for a faster transition, and it works perfectly. Lengthened...

1. Yes. All of the fast picking is, for the most part, muted. It's all picked, too. No hammer-ons. Even the 2-3 you mentioned is picked. 2. Even though the alternate way you play it [i]may sound okay, it's still incorrect. What makes it easier is the fact that you don't have to play the full chord ...

Help with The Stone

This song eludes me. I've been playing it for a looooong time, I just feel as though I play it incorrectly. Even though I've watched the solo Dave played after the interview he had on that one talk show trillions of times, I just feel like I'm playing it wrong. 1. Is the song muted during every one ...

If you stare at his strumming hand it becomes hynpotic after a while, snapping up and down.

I figured this out when I first started playing also so good luck to you. What you have to do is strum the single notes that are in between the repeated chord going down. Then strum the repeated chord DOWN as well, ((((bring your hand back up and strum DOWN again THEN you can strum up, down, up all ...

Thanks guys, lots of good info in here. I guess I was just rushing my learning. I'll try to work on my recoveries and parts that I seem to choke on. My guitar is quite large, I feel that may also be the culprit of why my shoulder stays tense. I try to rest it on the top of the guitar, but it doesn't...

It's really easy to play and sing, and it sounds good.

How do you not mess up?

Honestly? I've been playing for about 2 and a half years now and I mess up at least once or twice on any song I try to play all the way through. Is this just me, do I just suck balls? I can absolutely not understand how Dave and other artists don't choke through entire concerts. Also, I've noticed t...

Really?! Awesome, I just want to be able to see Dave, not a spec on a stage. Do you have any idea how long I should get there before the concert to get a good spot?

Thanks!

Hey I just bought lawn tickets for the show. I was shocked that 1 ticket for row G Center is going for 700$ dollars. That's INSANE. I've been listening to DMB for 5 years, never once saw a show. Does anyone know if lawn seats are decent in DTE Energy Music Theater? I've never been there before...Is ...

Oh man, you are in the EXACT same spot as I am right now. I've been playing for the same length of time. I know the inverse of what you know, medium amount of John Mayer, but tons of Dave. Starting to lose interest but I've been thinking about taking classes. Can anyone else provide some help? Shoul...

#41 is quite possible the hardest stretch for me ever, the chord he hits right before the last one, the higher C, destroys my hand. The one where you have to dislocate your pinky to play that note on fret #8.
