That 5 on the B string you are hearing is probably just dave playing an open e string(its the same note) and could be why its not noted in the tab. Just a thought though...

Im not sure if the strumming pattern that got posted above is completely correct or not...I dont think that it is how I play it; but its pretty close. As far as getting rid of the harmonics trying muting the B and E strings with the part of your index finger nearest your big knuckly...like kinda of ...
