The best advice I ever got on strumming is to keep your hands moving constantly. If you need to miss a beat, then still move your hands but make them miss the string, or mute the chord. Just keep them moving smoothly up and down. I hope this helps.

I only have the Hershey recording, but to me, it doesn't sound like he plays the open D. Also, instead of that A#, I think he just alternates the bass notes from C to B. This is just me, though.

Move

If someone feels like moving this to the Gear forum, I'd appreciate it. I meant to post there.

Recording to the Computer

I'm sure this has been asked before, but my case must be unique enough to make a new thread. I thoroughly apologize if this takes up bandwith, but any help would be appreciated. I'm interested in recording songs on my computer with both my electric/acoustic guitar and my classical guitar. Can someon...

I don't think Dave does it that way, but that's what I've always done.

Ambiguous Lyric

This isn't really guitar-related, but it's a question about John Lennon. In "Working Class Hero," the line "And you think you're so clever and classless and free/ But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see, " appears. Do you think "fucking" is an adjective, as in satirically criticizing t...

Wait, is a pick up the same thing as electronics? All I know is that there is a plug in it and the rotating knobs at the top of the guitar. If I were to buy a Fishman Pickup could I install it myself? What would this entail? Also, what's the difference between the electronics of the guitar and the p...

Chet Amp/Pickup

Hi, I just got a nice, sunburst Chet Atkins SST off eBay for a great price. When amped on my cheap amp, it sounds a bit too electric for my taste. What pick ups and amps would you suggest for someone seeking a more acoustic sound to this guitar? Also, what is involved in getting a pick up installed?...

Yeah, he switched after DDTW to standard tuning. The intro didn't sound bad to me, either... they should have done something about Roi's mic, or Dave's.

I got my SST for $700 on Ebay, and that's not much more than you have now. Great, great guitar.

If it helps, and I'm not sure it will, I find the rhythm to the chorus is similar to that of When the World Ends.

Harmonics?

What is a harmonic? It has one (whatever it is) in Typical Situation. This isn't Dave related, but it's a Dave tab so I felt like it would be appropriate.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if the Guitar World looked at tabs like short cuts to learning to play. I want to learn the right way, but I think I'd just discourage myself by trying to figure out some of the songs. One problem I'll have is that I'll hear the chord but Dave is using a tota...
