By far the easiest way I've found is just use iTunes and convert it.

Make sure you have 3ivx installed, as well as the latest divx packages (http://www.divx.com). I use MPEG-4 sound because it's much much smaller.

The runs aren't terribly difficult. Work on alternate picking and work your way up to the recorded speed.
