major scales, minor scales, major pentatonic scales, minor pentatonic scales. Work your way up, down, changing directions in the middle going either direction as well as arpeggios.

Re: Can Dave still hit falsetto's?
A falsetto is a voice that comes from a false area or above your head. It's not that he has trouble getting into his falsetto, it's that he does have trouble hitting the pitches in that falsetto.

Re: Martin HD-35 vs. D-35
I've played them both and definitely prefer the D35. To each his own. Like sfmartins said, you just have to play and see which one you like.

Re: Fret and Fretboard Cleaning
This seems to be one of the classic debates that goes along with the chicken and the egg. I've talked to some people who say to never use lemon oil but then my old guitar teacher, along with other people, who also happens to be a luthier used lemon oil.

Re: Who else has lost motivation to play guitar?
Spice it up by playing jazz, learning to solo, learn new chords( 7ths, maj7ths, min7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths), work on scales or playing blues scales. Most popular rock gets pretty boring and it very seldomly deviates from the standard chord progression. Find something that is totally out of the norm...

Re: learning electric/lead technique
I would submerse yourself in different styles. Learn blues scales, jazz, major scales(relative minor scales), learn arpeggios and arpcycling. Remember soloing is like talking or phrasing. Don't talk to much, enunciate certain words, emphasize certain words, throw out a phrase and repeat. Mess around...

Re: Combining songs?
Generally speaking, you can play any combo of 3-4 chords and it will sound similar to somthing else as most pop music contains the same progression. For that matter, there's nothing really originial in music. Good musicians take other ideas and repackage it to their sound.

Re: Lie In Our Graves Chord Names???
Yep you are right. Going back to the intervals, a minor scale differs from a major scale in that instead of: Whole, Whole, Half, Whole, Whole, Whole, Half you have: Whole, Half, Whole, Whole, Half, Whole, Whole So in B minor it goes: B, C#, D, E, F#, G, A, B Once again, you notice that it's the same...

Re: Lie In Our Graves Chord Names???
I haven't posted in awhile so I figured this thread was as good as any to get back in. As another poster pointed out the chords, there's a reason those chords are used. A major scale is built upon a certain principle of intervals: Whole Step(2 Frets), Whole Step, Half Step(1 Fret), Whole Step, Whole...
