Anyone noticed the LIOG without the "jam" in the middle? I'm not sure if he left it out because he was alone or if it just hadn't been "invented" yet. I always thought it sounded good solo....either way, glad it found its way into the song! That is a great video....I couldn't even imagine what it wo...

Anyone ever heard the IEM recording of Jazzfest 2001? You can REALLY hear Carter lay down the backing vocals on every song and it's not necessarily a good thing. Not to say I don't like his backing vocals. The way they are mixed at shows and HAD BEEN mixed on albums it always blended well but turned...

I think its a misconception of the difference between what makes a jam band and "jamming" on a song for 10 minutes. To clarify, how I've always kept them separated, a jam band will start with a set song but totally take it in a different direction in improvisation. Key changes, time changes, soloing...

Man, the Flecktones are sick. I love Little Worlds....especially Bil Mon. That song is just crazy. I just can't say enough good things about their music...

Except the lyrics, never been a really big fan of any vocals on a Flecktones album. Just my opinion though...

If you know very basic guitar theory (major, minor, pentatonic scales, etc) then it really just moving from 6 strings down to 4. The only thing weird about guitar to bass is a different right-hand technique (to an extent) and playing on much fatter strings.

Seriously, those bitches are THICK.

I hyper-extended a pinky once when I was learning to play DMB. I believe it was the Nature Intro to Billies that did the trick. Granted I was just starting to play guitar and my fingers were unacustomed to the stress but I can't think of too many other guitarists that place such a high demand on fin...

Yeah, I should have mentioned it was unofficial but it was the one widely accepted as *the* cover for the album by the fans. Thanks for all the help!

Hey does anyone have the original cover art/jewel case inserts/disc label for this album that was released about the time the album was leaked? The front insert has the big white flower and the rear insert had the photo of Dave, Steve, and Carter. My previous jewel case bit the big one and I can't s...

Eh, that poll needs to be revised. I think it's great but not the greatest thing ever. And "good but not what I expected" doesn't cover it because after Everyday nothing was what I expected so I just stopped expecting. Life was easier after that...

It's a damn fine album is what it is.

I'd recommend Jimi Thing. You can do a lot a lot in the mid jam playing back in forth between the A and E chords. If you're familiar with the pentatonic scale you can go apeshit for hours. You can do this again at the end do if you don't tack on WWBOM. Also, check out Clapton's Before You Accuse Me....

Lousiana Bayou would definately top my list. It rocked hard when I first heard it at jazzfest. American Baby (+intro) still gives me goosebumps. I also really did You Might Die Trying and Smooth Rider. It really is a solid album as a whole. A great DMB for rolling the windows down in the car and too...

"And somehow, with the bricks I gave him, Steve managed to build....a boat!" My favorite fucking DM quote of all time from the Ultrasound video. That who behind the scenes was a great series. The video on the Stand Up disc.....whcih finally arrived TODAY....was an excellent look inside. It made me r...

I realize I'm digging this thread out of the past but I came up with another possible origin for Anyone Seen The Bridge and wanted to see if it had been considered - doesn't look like it has. If anyone has a copy of The CD Of JB by James Brown or any of his other albums with Sex Machine, at around t...
