Most Fenders have 20 frets. The Deluxe/active model has 22 frets, but I'd bet 99 out of 100 Fenders you see have 20 frets. It would probably be next to impossible to find a 24-fret neck to fit a Fender. I don't know what Flea is playing in that particular video, but I've seen him playing both Fender...

Look into the MTD Kingston or Heir. I had one a couple years ago-- the new models have active electronics and you can get a nice wood top. Very good build quality, especially for the price, which should be well under $1000. I ordered mine through Bass Central-- their website is http://www.basscentra...
3 weeks, heh. Really? I'm assuming it was already in production or finished?
It was just "almost finished" and nobody had boughten it, so I said I can screw the black pearloid pickguard and the long wait and just get the white anyway, which i think is a bit more good ...

I opted out of the bartolini actually. I got the Aggie OBP-1 instead. I should have edited. But hey...I'm lazy. So did you order one brand new from Modulus? How long before it arrives? I know about a year ago a new order from Modulus was sitting at about 6 months, but that could have dropped due to...

i like tictacs wrote:Byebye warwick, and byebye numerous rack equipment. That's alright though, because I just ordered a Modulus Flea 4. Black with white pickguard, standard pickup etc etc.

I recommend the Aguilar OBP-1 preamp instead of the standard Bartolini.

Re: cruah all over
No, it isn't a requisite phrase in the music. But to play a lot of DMB's music you must have a 5 string bass, so when I charted this I thought that walking it an octave down would give the song more dynamics. In reality the bassline for crush is little more than a handful of powerchord arpeggios. t...

yeah, but what i mean is bass players that don't create a groove. 555555555577777777773333333333 as fast as you can doesn't seem like a groove to me. Some songs don't call for a groove. Sounds like you're describing a punk or a metal line-- not the most groove-oriented music. Trying to play a Motow...

Any bass can be good for funk if you use your fingers right Yep. . . Flea plays funk on his Flea bass live, he's used Stingrays in the past, he uses Alembics and Wals among other things in the studio. James Jamerson, who played on about every Motown hit, used an early 60s P-bass. I believe Victor u...
