Last two days I've listened to DMB on the way to and from work. Yesterday was UTTAD, today is Crash. Their first 3 albums are still some of my all time favorites even if I don't listen to them as much as I used to.

What are using as your reference point? If you're trying to nail the sound from the album recording it's going to be difficult. AFAIK, he was primarily using a gibson chet atkins sst at the time the album was made, which isn't an acoustic guitar. Then there's the issue of how it was recorded and mix...

If you go used you can get alot of amp for <$1000. I picked up a Mesa F-50 for $500. I just peeked at the Austin Craigslist and there's a ton of shit under $1k. Some Mesa's, Sovtek Mig-60, Vox-AC30, Fender Twin Reverbs... all kinds of stuff.

Re: What kind of guitar?

Larrivee has some nice $1000 range guitars, but if you're really "looking to get a nice one", you might be better off just waiting until you can spend $2000+ all Larrivees are built the same, the only difference in models is the inlay/decoration. a 700$ Larrivee ...

Re: Telecaster or Strat?

I wouldn't worry as much about what your idols are playing. [b]If you have a decent enough guitar you can get it to sound very close to pretty much anything. But everyone else is right devote your time to playing each and getting to know them before you make your decision.
He speaks the tr...

I normally use the d'addario bluegrass strings and really like them alot. The Elixirs you show look to be the same thing (as far as gauges) so if you are already using elixirs I'm sure you'd love those.

i listened to the clips and it sounds fine for gigging. Most places you play won't have top notch sound equipment if any at all and unless you want to drop a bunch of cash on amps and such you can't tell a whole lot of difference between acoustics once you're amplified. Also unless you're playing st...

I'd give them a call and see if you can't find out some more info. It might be a great time or it could be a let down. There doesn't seem to be enough info on the flyer to determine what the class is gonna cover.

I'll second the larrivee recommendation. I'd look at their whole line though not just the 9 series. All of them come with 1 3/4 nut btw.

I can't vouch specifically for the Bron Y Aur Stomp tab, but any of the other tabs I've used from this website have been money.
