I usually play the individual notes on the intro bass notes on downstrokes and the rest on ups for the verse and I'm pretty sure that's how Dave plays it.

The Dreaming Tree is in 7/8 and here's how you know. in 7/4, it's just seven straight beats per measure. in 7/8, you can feel the pattern as 1,2,3,+,a. if you subdivided it as 1+2+3+a, all seven of those would get the same amount of time, but in just 1,2,3, beat three feels longer (which it is) to b...

yeah, jsut go above your highest fret and think of each fret not on your guitar as half a pitch and you shuld be fine
