Haven't been to these parts in years. Always thought fondly of the folks here. Anyway, just picked up a new Martin (new to me anyway, used) and wanted to capture something quick. Ended up with this ditty by Jackson Browne.

The Weary Kind
From the tremendous film Crazy Heart with the untouchable Jeff Bridges. A little help from the wife on this recording. Comments/critiques appreciated. Re: Original: "Awake"
Many thanks for the comments, gents.
I agree that it could benefit from some harmonies but I've never been able to add my own harmonies without it sounding way too forced. I also think some violin would complete this song but yeah, I've never even picked up a violin.

Original: "Awake"
Link: http://plaza.ufl.edu/bbatson/Awake.mp3 It’s quiet now and I’d venture to say That I’m the only one awake For miles She’s on my mind, I feel her fragile frame If I were in dreams it’d be just the same, so I Toss and turn a while I feel compelled to apologize And I don’t mean to dramatize It’s t...

Re: Violet Hill (Coldplay) Cover
Nice work, Dennis - I really enjoyed your rendition and thanks for the tab. You have a little bit of a Chris Martin thing going on with your voice. Not sure if this is intentional or not given the cover. What kind of guitar are you playing and where can I pick me up some of them that there throw pil...

Wildflowers
Quick little tune. Just put some extra light Martin Marquis strings on the Larivee - I think it might sound a bit too tinny and I'm curious to hear feedback on that in particular. I appreciate any comments and/or critiques that you might have. http://plaza.ufl.edu/bbatson/wildflowers.mp3 [2:42] You ...

Not a whole lot to add to what others have said. Excellent guitar and your voice fits this song well. What kind of guitar are you playing here?

Re: Cover: Make It Up
Matt - I agree with what others have said in that your voice is somewhat difficult to hear over the guitar. But that's just trial and error when you're not working with a real recording setup. Might want to consider buying a 4-track. Rhythm is decent but somewhat lacking with the chord changes. That...

Re: What I've been working on...
Shane - very enjoyable to listen to. As already mentioned, a few areas are a bit rough while a few areas are brilliant. The rough patches seem to be timing issues (dead notes, not letting notes ring out long enough). Nonetheless, a great piece. Recording quality is great. What setup and what kind of...

Good stuff, Max, and good for you for having the balls to get out there and play your stuff. "Don't Go" would have to be my favorite of these three. Are you playing a Takamine?
