I've got a DL4 - works great w/acoustic. I don't think you can use the out jack of it for headphones though. I've tried, even w/the 2 dollar adapter and it doesn't work, I believe b/c of the differing line levels (someone more well versed in this can correct me or elaborate). However, you can get a ...

Just a warning, this will be kinda long: As mentioned, simply, the volume pedal adjusts the volume of the signal depending on how far you press the pedal down with your toe (you kinda rock from your heel down/toe up to toe down to go from full mute to full volume). For swells and volume effects, the...

ya i was thinking sumthing like that, i jsut didnt know if it would acualy work since i havent used cool edit yet, would that be possible with two guitar and two vocals? or is that too much, since there are only left and right channels Yeah, you only have two channels but you could put all of the g...

Thanks for the input...yeah I've been recording myself for a while now and am starting to see some real results (you don't want to hear my first attempts, wow...they hurt). I'm glad to hear that i should just keep going along w/what i'm doing and that there is some hope (Elliott Smith is some high p...

Vocals
So now that I've been playing guitar long enough and can actually sing and play at the same time, I'd like to work on getting my voice up to par. I realize that this is not an overnight process and really the best way to do this is to get some vocal lessons but I'd really appreciate it if someone co...

You can do this very simply w/a cheap but good quality mixer like this one . Basically, all you have to do is plug your guitar into one channel and your mic into the other. Pan each hard left and right, respectively and then set, in Cool Edit, 2 tracks to record. Set one to record only the left chan...

I got it - thanks for the help, I was trying everything you guys were saying, holding it in while I was tensioning, etc. I guess it was just a matter of doing it one more time w/the "special touch," who knows. And yes...my Ibanez is a piece of shit, but I still love it. I taught myself to play on it...

Restringing Guitar
I'm restringing my guitar (Ibanez AEL20) and having some trouble. My low e peg will not stay in place if I put any sort of tension on the string. I have properly put the string/peg in place (while pulling up on the string, pushing the peg down) but once I start tensioning the string, the peg starts ...

Cover of Dispatch's Elias
here is a cover that me and a few friends threw together...I'm curious what you all think in terms of the song as a whole, different parts - whatever you've got...there are a few rough spots vocally/musically but try to ignore those...this was a 1 take/rough record...thanks! http://depot.northwester...

nice work...good job spreading the howie love...just curious about something I've noticed w/my DL4 - there seems to be some serious digitizing (ill call it that for lack of a better term) of the signal in the loops - I get this with my DL4 and i noticed it on this track, i was curious what is the ca...

Howie does have an interesting setup, one set of pedals for his guitar, one for his vocals...anyone interested in his setup, check out these pictures, courtesy of Howie's official board theHDTB.com (I resized them from their huge proportions). As previously stated, Howie didn't use any pedals, excep...

I think everyone is a lil confused. Dave goes direct for all of his acoustics (6 string, 12 string, raised b, etc.). They do some rack-based effects sometimes (heard on Last Stop and others) but the guitar is heard directly through the PA. The matchless is only for his electrics (regular tuning and ...
