bass help.

id like to tune my 5 string to E A D G C. aside from getting the lighter gage strings is it gonna hurt the bass to be at that tuning? or to go back and forth between the 2 (BEADG and EADGC) having 2 sets of strings

thank you. those videos helped alot. i was confusing terms.. i was just having trouble getting harmonics out of the 3rd frets, but im experimenting with hand positions still. id like to be able to do a nice bass solo at my brothers wedding, but im not sure that will be possible. i have about 6 months.

forgive me, i know everyones gonna hate me for asking. but does the term "false harmonics" refer to the harmonics that arent 5 7 and 12? and if so.. do you always have to change the plucking hands position? say for instance, to get the harmonic over the 3rd fret on the g string.. where should i be p...

It's just because you suck. :) The elastic is to reduce sympathetic vibration, but you'll need to rely just as much on your muting with your hands. Depending on where you're tapping, you can move the elastic up as high as you want. It'll help lower the action in addition to muting the strings, but ...
