Yesterday I had over 1 year old Martin strings on a crappy Carlos I traded an old 13" TV for. Today I have brand new Ern...

Here's my attempt

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze1llud/medley_dmb.mp3

I used the mike my computer came with and Windows sound recorder, so don't expect much as far as sound quality. There are several mistakes and a couple of the transitions are kind of forced. I might fix it up tomorrow.

I personally think it sounds best from the 5th fret. One time I was playing this song and accidentally hit a harmonic at the end of the tab above. The 3-5-7 part. I played 3-5-7-(7). First 7 on the 3rd string and the harmonic 7 on the 4th. Hit the 1st one with your pinky, then ease up slightly and m...

Like Shane said, it would probably get boring if you played a whole song without singing since almost all the songs are repetitive (of course i mean boring for the listener, not the one playing the song). Maybe you could play a medley of parts of songs that blend nicely into one another.

I lightly bar my index finger across all the strings then play the notes with my other 3 fingers. This way you can really strum away and you'll only hear the notes you want.

I was slightly disappointed with the Lillywhite version myself. I didn't like the lyric change when he says "But all the colors mix together, to grey. And it breaks her heart." Before when he played it was "But all the colors mix together, to grey. On grey street". It just suprised me that they woul...

This is how I play Me an Julio after listening to Dave's versions of it. It's really easy but fun to play because of the way you strum it. I doubt it's anything like Paul Simon's original version. It sounds ok, but you can't drag the pick across any muted strings this way. I think this is especially crucial when playing it by yourself, because you need the percussive drags to keep the rhythym since you don't have the rest of the band to do it for you.

thanks shane, but I'm actually looking for the individual notes. I doubt I could figure out how he plays it by just looking at the chords.

I don't know who's better, but does anyone know where to get somewhat accurate Mayer Tabs? I'm looking for This Will All Make Perfect Sense Someday. I've only ever heard a live solo recording of it and he plays really fast notes throughout the whole song but the only tabs I can find just have chords.

you mean "lead" right? I just listened to the one you first mentioned and it is kind of in the background, not as pronounced. I can see how the non-guitar playing crowd sort of missed it.

Dave played it solo at Benaroya Hall, Seattle 10/24/02 if that helps you.

Yeah, he's definitely not the best soloist. But I was so suprised to hear it at the time I thought it was the best solo I've ever heard. He was picking the strings really hard and the crowd was going crazy, me included. I was a little disappointed when I got the cd's a few weeks later because it did...
