if youre looking to buy a wiring kit or you need any parts or tools, http://www.carvin.com has stuff, and http://www.cfmartin.com has woodworking stuff that your dad might need. i wouldnt buy the pickups from carvin tho. go with dimarzo or seymour duncan. as far as the style of the guitar, do someth...

judging by the ebay auction price and the listed price in vintage guitar price guide ($550 in excellent condition), i dont think youll be able to get much more than $600 for it. it depends on how much you play it/want to keep it. if it were me, id hold on to it

yeah the action on the hd35 is almost like an electric. if you really like it, i suggest tracking down one of the carvin cobalt series acoustics. theyre more similar than youd think. all wood, ebony fretboard (i think thats what the hd35 has, but im probably wrong), fishman electronics and great ton...

while i wont dispute the quality of both of the clapton signature models, why anyone would buy a guitar solely because it has his name on it is beyond me. but yeah, the hd35 is awesome. i like the tone on the taylor 700s better, but the hd35 is much more playable.

i just bought a taylor 310 for $950... i know guitar center prices are a lil bit higher, but they are running that 12 months same as cash thing. personally, i would consider it a waste of money to buy a cheaper guitar when i know im going to get a pro-level model later. but thats me.

hm. yeah. it sounds 100% correct to me. just cuz theyre 7th chords doesnt mean they dont fit the song. thats like saying you cant use minor chords in a happy song.

in my personal experience with prs, the low end ones play like crap and the high end ones are great. they sorta sound like a les paul, but theyve got a bigger body and more sustain than any guitar ive ever heard. the secret to santana's tone isnt so much in the prs as it is with his amps. he's got a...

satch taught vai and hammet... but i think vai is the superior player. remember that movie crossroads, with the guy from karate kid? vai wrote and played that whole duel scene at the end. and malmsteen may be faster, but so is michael angelo. so, speed isnt everything apparently.

the main reason for using heavier gauge strings is for downtuning... keeps the strings from being all loose. theyre also good if you want a darker tone for jazz or whatnot.

if your acoustic doesnt sound acoustic enough thru a regular amp, boss makes an acoustic simulator pedal. i know tim uses it, and so does the guitarist from pearl jam as for other good amps, if you want a tube amp, fender is the way to go. they also have that cyber twin series that has lots of effec...
