Help Myself Bass Tab

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Help Myself Bass Tab

Unread post by GSR » Sun Feb 15, 2004 8:18 pm

Happy post V-day. the only screwy part is the summer's here, it was a bitch to tab, partly because i'm not exactly sure what I play..but this should sound pretty good. 8)

Code: Select all

Help Myself
Dave Matthews Band
Tabbed from The Central Park Concert, with dmbtabs.com guitar tab as a reference, at 8:10 pm.
5:23

Very fun song to play, pretty easy too. Lots of octave fills.

Intro/Main Riff/"Dangerous Hours"
G-----------------------------------
D-----------------------------------
A--2--4-5-2-4-5-2-4-5-2-4-5---------
E-----------------------------------

G--------------------------5--------
D--------4--2---------4--2----------
A--2--3---------2--3----------------
E-----------------------------------

Verse
G------------------------(5)--------
D-----------------------------------
A----------2-333--4-333-2-3---------
E--3-3--3---------------------------

"Oh colder grow the days..."
G-----------------------------------
D-------------9--7------------------
A-------5/7---------7(\5)-----------
E----5------------------------------

"Summer's here...."
G---------------------------------------------
D------7----7-----------5----5--------4-----4-
A---------------------------------------------
E--55----55---55\3--33---33---33\2--22---22---

G---------------------------------------------
D------5-5/7-7777\5---------------------------
A---------------------------------------------
E--33-----------------------------------------

Breakdown (Carter Solo)
G-----------------------------------
D---------5--------3----------------
A------4--------4-------------------
E---3--------5----------------------

Those are all the parts. All those awesome slide fills are just Stefan messing around the 13th fret on the A string.

nice. I love this song, it's so dissonant and creepy almost. It's cool but gets kind of old sometimes.

Well, your deff learnin how to get an ear, this tab is great(sorry it took so long for response). I saw you changed your errors, awesome. Being the noisy bastard that I am why not add some fills! :D

Code: Select all

Verse
Just like GSR said he messes with slides way up on the neck, so I'll give most of'em to ya. *** I play the verse a lil differently *** 151515=-15-15-15-

Regular Verse
G:----------------------------
D:----------------------------
A:--------2-333-5-333-2-3----
E:-333-5----------------------

Cool Slide Fills
G:----------------------------
D:----------------------------
A:--------2-333-3/15151515\-
E:-333-5----------------------

G:----------------------------
D:----------------------------
A:--------2-333-3/14141414\-
E:-333-5----------------------

G:-----------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------
A:--------2-333-3/14h15p14h15p14\--
E:-333-5-----------------------------

G:-------------------------------------
D:-------------------------------------
A:--------2-333-5-3-2h3-2h3-2h3--------
E:-333-5-------------------------------

"Oh colder grow the days..."
Like This usually right?
G-------------------------------
D-------------9--7--------------
A-------5/7---------7(\5)-------
E----5-------------------------

Add some Spice
G:-----------------------------
D:------------9/14--12-11------
A:-------5/7-------------------
E:----5------------------------

"Summer's here...."
G----------------------------------------------------
D------7----7-----------5----5--------4-----4--------
A----------------------------------------------------
E--55----55---55\3--33---33---33\2--22---22----------

Now you can do a number of octave fills, I'll put all the ones I think sound on. Im putting this cause after reviewing the DVD several times, Steffan goes way up on the neck, so hell, I listened and nailed'em
Instead of playing
G--------------------
D------5-5/7-7777\5--
A--------------------
E--33----------------

You can play
G:----12--12-11-9------
D:---------------------
A:-/10--10--9--7-------
E:---------------------

G:----12--12--14--16-----
D:-----------------------
A:-/10--10--12--14-------
E:-----------------------

G:----12--12--12--12-----
D:-----------------------
A:-/10--10--10--10--10\--
E:-----------------------

Eh, I think custom fills have no place in tabs. If you are bass player you should understand how to add your own fills. The normal tabs of stefan's line allow much to be improvized (solos, fills, etc).

thanks for the kudos tender, those fills look pretty swizzeet. but i do have to agree with jah in the sense that i didn't put any of my fills in, just cos i think of them as little personal twists to throw in and make the song your own style, even if it is a cover. 8)
