Stay (Wasting Time) Bass Tab

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Stay (Wasting Time) Bass Tab

Unread post by GSR » Thu Aug 21, 2003 12:54 pm

this is how i play it, i think it sounds pretty good. i didn't bother to tab the intro,,, i just slide from 1 to 3 on E and then do a little doodle around the 15th fret. the chorus is a little iffy because its a four string, but i think it works.

Code: Select all

Version: Before These Crowded Streets
Length: 5:34
Tuning: E-A-D-G
Tabbed: 8/21/03

( ) = Fill

Intro: Two Fills, couple slides, and that little 'doodleoo...'

Well first of all you missed my favorite part the little slide in the beginning but it's really hard to tab anyway. In the verse I play the end a little differently:

Code: Select all

G:------------------------------------------
D:----------------5------------------------
A:-------5-6-7-8----6-----5-5----6------6-------
E:----6----------------3-3------4----4------
The chorus looks good. There as an outro that goes with Stay that is a little different from the verse, but not all that different. The Bridge sounds great. All in all, a good tab.

Sitting from here everything looks good, but like you said...that chorus is a little rough, not far from right, but a little rough. I havent tried playing to the actual song, but everything looks pretty good. I wanna see some more from you! Gotta keep up!

i've actually played it similar to that too, i'd say they're relatively interchangable, gives some variety.

i put your verse in there Munky,

bartender, if you wanna edit the chorus feel free! :)

I think alot of the outro is just improv isnt it?

nah there's definitly like four notes that he hits over and over...its real easy to hear, its almost like the outro jam of rapunzel, same type of thing.

Try this:

Code: Select all

STAY
5-string BEADG

Source: BTCS album version

CHORUS (0:53-1:13)

E---------6-----8---------10-\8-----8------------6------------------------------------
B---4---------------6------------6-----6-----4--------6------4---1--/--4\---1--/--4\--

E---------6-----8---------10-\8-----8------------6----6\-----1-----1-----1------------
B---4---------------6------------6-----6-----4----------------------------------------

E---3--3--3--4-4---4---4------->verse

On the outro, he first plays the verse riff, then switches to what is essentially the same thing except part of it is an octave lower. Pop in the Listener Supported video. I think that's one of the songs where you can switch the camera angle to Stefan/Leroi/Butch.

i don't think i can swing an octave lower on a four string... try this for the outro after he finishes playing the verse

Code: Select all

G:-------------------------------------------
D:-------------------------------------------
A:-------------55-555------------------------
E:-----6-666-----------33-333---44-444-------

Correct. What Stefan plays during the chorus and outro requires a 5-string.
