Open Mic ideas

Unread post by filmdude100cms » Sun Mar 06, 2005 12:53 am

So anyway soon me and friends are gonna start doing open mics. the first few will be instrumental since we need to find someone who can sing and learn lyrics with rythme fast.

but anyway song ideas i have so far are

Jessica-allman brothers
Good Good Time-DMB
Jazz 1- me
Can you say that you know me {works well as a jam} - me
cold november-me
he (either chris or daniel) can do some nice solo stuff that they know
i can do a few TR tunes, possibly do the great segue

ALSO were gonna do watchtower many different ways, DMB style, hendrix style, flecktones style, wide spread panic style

but overall im looking for good instrumental songs for 2 guitars, the difficulty can get up there pretty high, just as long as theres a rythme part and a solo/fills part.

some artists wed like to do stuff from are pink floyd, zepplin, allman brothers, govt mule, possibly DMB, SRV, hendrix, and anyone in that general area.

this life's too good to last and i'm too young to care

don't kid yourself and don't fool yourself
this life could be the last and we're too young to see

well its not all acoustic, id be acoustic, maybe a full acoustic show here and there, but then we'd be doing a lot of originals and dave. um so the normal show it looks like itll be me acoustic, him electric.

i like those ideas though kahn. basically were looking for songs people will either recognize and think "cool" or stuff people wont exactly be able to pinpoint but be either blown away, or think these kids are good...

cause theres a tip bucket next to us that comes to us when the night is over.

by Conor Oberst... Mraz covered the song "Kathy With A K's Song" by Bright Eyes. The Mraz version is called "Love is Real" because I guess people who put it on the internet didn't know the real name of it.

A lot of those songs are going to be very boring with no singer, like Mr. Jones, which is 3 (I think) chords over and over.

Hence the "*we need kevin to sing part"

Oh and Jessica would be soooo sweet if you could pull it off. I love that song.

my bad, I just glanced at the list and since there wasn't a space between the "we need kevin to sing" and the song lists, it registered in my brain as just another song.
