#41 Bass Tab

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

#41 Bass Tab

Unread post by GSR » Thu Jul 22, 2004 6:59 pm

Code: Select all

#41
Tabbed by GSRLessard14 from Listener Supported on 7/22/04.
Played on a 5-string, but this is a 4-string tab.

Intro:
Play twice:
G:--------------------------------------------------
D:--------------------------------------5-----------
A:---------------------------7----------------------
E:-----5---------7----------------------------------

Then on the third:
G:---------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------5-5/4-----------------
A:----------------------------7---------------7-----5------
E:-----5---------7-----------------------------------------

Then the fourth/final:
G:----------------------------------------------------
D:----------------------------------------------------
A:--------------------------7-------555\--555\--------
E:-----5--------7-------------------------------------

Main Groove:
G:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A:------------------------------------5-6-7-7-7-77-7-6-5-5-5-55-8-55----
E:----5-5-5--55-5-6-7-7-7-77------------------------------------------------

Chorus:
(The Major Scale)

With fill.
Ex. "I wouldn't pass this by... *fill* ...oh no, but i wouldn't take more than i need"
G:--------------------------------------------*5-5\7----5\7------
D:----------------------------------2-44-5----------5------5-----
A:-----------------2-3-5--2-3-5----------------------------------
E:---5--3--3--5----------------------------------------------------

Without fill.
Ex. "Why won't you ever be glad, it melts into wonder, well i came in praying before you"
G:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:----------------------------------2-44-5--5-4-2-----------------------------------------
A:-----------------2-3-5--2-3-5--------------------5--33-2--5-3-2---------------------
E:---5--3--3--5-----------------------------------------------------------5--33--5--------

Song Breakdown
Intro 0:00 - 0:36
Main Groove 0:37 - 1:33
Chorus 1:34 - 1:52
Main Groove 1:53 - 3:09
Chorus 3:10 - 3:47
Jam 3:48 - 9:47
whew... one of the most fun songs to play/jam to, especially LS, great version. um lets see... the chorus with fill and without fill are relatively interchangeable, but you can distinctly hear when stefan uses the fill during the song. the chorus is probly not what stefan plays, but he doesn't play the main groove during those portions of the song, and the above chorus fits in quite perfectly if i do say so myself. other than that, the rest of the song is pretty much the main groove. during the jam just change around and play with the tempo and stuff. a lot of the fills during the jam, as well as the different variations are just done with octaves and slides. so enjoy, play around, and jam away. :)

oh and i'll proof this and format it better later, i just wanted to get it up and out there for now.

i have yet to find the way stefan plays the chorus anywhere online. the chorus written here sounds fine and is what i play, but the real bass line is much better.

What exactly is a street fish-esque tab? A tab is either right or its wrong. It has nothing to do with being a good bass player, about creative interpretation, or anything like that. It is a resource, and for it to be a useful resource, I think it is the responsibility of the person providing it to make sure it is right. I'm not going to say I've never made a mistake or tabbed a wrong note or made a typo, but I can guarantee at least 95% accuracy. I won't post something I can't stand behind-- otherwise I'd feel like I'm wasting the time of anyone who needs a useful tab.

Code: Select all

INTRO (1st and 2nd time)
G---5---------------7---------------12---------------11---------------
D---------------------------------------------------------------------
A---------------------------------------------------------------------
E---5---------------7---------------12---------------10---------------
B---------------------------------------------------------------------

(3rd time)
G---5---------------7---------------12-----12--16\14--14\11--11-------
D---------------------------------------------------------------------
A---------------------------------------------------------------------
E---5---------------7---------------12-----12--15\14--14\10--10-------
B---------------------------------------------------------------------

(4th time)
G---5---------------7---------------12--------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------------------------------
A---------------------------------------------------------------12\---
E---5---------------7---------------12---------------10-10-10-------------2/3---2/3-->verse
B---------------------------------------------------------------------

CHORUS

I think this tab is 87% accurate, not quite a streetfish tab.
