i respect the fact that the Band is branching out and trying new stuff, plus ive read in interviews form the band that this album is a representation of how they express themselves, this is them like it or not... At least we have people criticising the song, you tend to get a lot of fans together and we would cheer and yell if dave laid an egg and ate it... Plus im sure there is more to this song than the edit... Its a simple song that does not have alot of tracks is why they have it for the radio since its lower quality (I worked for a radio station for a while, thats how it works, when new stuff comes in they either pick something that does not have alot of tracks of they take some tracks out and send it to the radio. In this case we just have the main mandolin/violin riff, drums, voice, and some electric/ bass thrown in, perfect for the radio.) I'm not saying anything else untill the CD comes out, plus the fact that it has some new stuff from the tour that sounds so old school DMB (Joy ride). Don't kill youselves thinking this is another "Everyday", i think we will all be surprised....

I say and agree that we should let the albulm come out first and listen to it, before we make up our minds. In respect to everyday (and lillywhite sessions), and busted stuff, yah they might not be the band's greatest achievement, but look at some of the songs that came from those albulms that are now live favorites...What you are, Grey street, Bartender, If i had it all, just to name a few of my personal favs. So i say, let's be optimistic, and even tho we are DMB fans, doesn't mean we have to love the song. And to each his own

Of all the DMB songs, there are three that never really did anything for me. I did it, gravedigger, and dont' drink the water. Maybe it is because I enjoy complex music and these songs just seem bland to me. But if I am not mistaken, they were all singles too. I think BTCS is an amazing album, but its the songs that were never going to be singles that I love the most like pig, spoon, dreaming tree, stone and crush. Well, the last one was a single, but if this idea can be applied to american baby, then I think there is potential for the album to rock while having a bland first single.

here is the "extended version", it clocks in at 4:35 but it sounds like they cut it off early.

yeah they did - fuckers. the little jam at the end boosts the score for this song (in my book) a point, maybe two...
it has potential to be jammed out in concert

I want to listen to the entire album before i make my decision, and more so i want to hear this song live, personally with that jam at the end i think it has real potential. the radio sucks, so im not going to pass judgment on a dave song that has been edited for radio. i guess i will just have to keep waiting

p.s. i definitely hear a police influence, not a bad thing but definitely is there
