Takamine EG523SC Jumbo

Unread post by charliemike » Thu Jul 14, 2005 12:06 am

I'm in Colorado and I leave at 3:30 tomorrow so I don't know if this is going to do any good to post at 1am Eastern.

Anyway, there's a store near me in CO that has one of these for $450 because they are going out of business. I plugged it in and really liked the way it played. The neck felt really good in my hand and the pickup Takamine installed isn't bad ... Has an EQ and everything.

I'm not looking for a "Dude, you should buy it" response but just something from someone that has a Takamine. This particular guitar is made in Korea which concerns me. Maple sides/back and a spruce top ... I hear the lower priced guitars use a pulp core between their laminated pieces that form the side ... My LoPrinzi uses a solid pine core ...

Anyway, any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

ive got the EG544SC very nice, yeah given you wont have solid back and side, but they sound good anyway. back and sides dont account for much sound, solid top, then go for it. taks are great. also their new pickup system and EQ are amazing

I have this particular one and love it. Looooooovvvee it. I've had it for about two years now and I feel it does everything I need it to well. Plays really nicely and is awesome visually.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The store wanted $450 for the guitar and $100 for a case. I told them to go screw themselves. I've seen guitars and cases for $450 on ebay.

May have been a bad move there.

I know ... I just couldn't pull the trigger. I'm very much one that believes that I need to hold it and play it before I buy it. Especially in this price range.
